About the Placement Exam As an incoming transfer student, if you have earned or plan to earn AP, CLEP or dual enrollment credit to be applied to your academic records at the University of Arizona, please contact your primary academic advisor regarding second language requirements before taking this exam. Once you begin the exam - you WILL be assessed a $40 non-refundable fee for the placement exam(s) and one (1) proficiency exam (to be taken in-person and by request) This exam determines a student’s level of knowledge in a second language for the purposes of placement into a second language course at the University of Arizona, it does NOT measure proficiency and it's results can NOT be used to meet any second language requirements for your expected degree. Do not use your browser's back or refresh button. Once you answer a question, you will not be able to change it. You will see your results immediately after completing the exam. Heritage learners of Spanish are students who have been exposed to Spanish in their homes or communities from a young age. As a consequence of that early exposure, they can understand and/or speak the language and have a personal connection to it. If you have this kind of experience with Spanish, you can choose the Spanish Heritage test, and you will have the option to be placed in Spanish 103/203/253 instead.
